Berkeley Co. man found guilty in sex abuse case

July 26, 2007

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Berkeley County man was found guilty Tuesday of a felony count of first-degree attempted sexual abuse in connection with a February 2006 incident at Musselman High School, according to Berkeley County Circuit Court records.

Robert Lewis "Bobby" Robinson, 37, of Inwood, W.Va., could serve one to three years in prison, Berkeley County Prosecutor Pamela J. Games-Neely said. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 18.

Robinson was arrested in February 2006 on a charge of first-degree sexual abuse after a Berkeley County Sheriff's Department deputy investigated a reported of an unwanted encounter between a man and a female who were participating in recreational league basketball on Jan. 30, 2006, at Musselman High School.

Though given the choice to convict on the original charge filed against Robinson, the jury returned with a conviction on the lesser charge, according to court records.
