Man charged with armed robbery in theft of mo-ped

A Hagerstown man was charged with armed robbery after a mo-ped was taken from a North Burhans Boulevard parking lot on Wednesday.

Hagerstown Police said Deanthony Lamont Warrick, 18, was charged with one count each of robbery, theft, second-degree assault and possession of marijuana.

Police said in a news release that they were called to the parking lot at about 5 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery.

A man had a knife and allegedly stole a mo-ped from another person, the news release says.

The man drove off on the mo-ped, but was stopped by an officer in the 600 block of North Prospect Street, police said.

Police said they found a butterfly knife on the man when they arrested him.

The mo-ped owner was not injured and got his vehicle back, police said.
