MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Hubert William Rolling, 79, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007.

Born April 27, 1928, in Lagny, France, he was the son of the late William Hubert and Mercedes Thibault Rolling.

He was a member of the Actors Equity Guild and Society of Directors and Choreographers.

He received a master of arts degree in theater from the University of Michigan.

He directed "West Side Story," "Romeo and Juliet," "Damn Yankees," "King Lear" and "The Christmas Carol" at the Apollo Civic Theatre in Martinsburg.

He served as artistic director of the Old Opera House Theatre Company in Charles Town, W.Va., and as a member of the Apollo Civic Theatre Board of Directors.


He is survived by two sisters, Wilhelmina H. Roberts of Richmond, Va., and Renee Maitland of New Brunswick, Canada; and nieces and nephews.

Services and burial will be private.
