GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. - Carlton S. Bridge Sr., 79, of Great Cacapon, and formerly of High Bridge, N.J., died Monday, July 23, 2007, at his home.

Born Jan. 25, 1928, in Camden, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles and Romaine Sommers Bridge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne Bridge.

He attended public schools in New Jersey.

He was a supervisor employed by Trediger Industries in Flemington, N.J., for 35 years before retiring in 1992.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019 and Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan Beavers of New Jersey; four sons, Richard Bridge of Great Cacapon, and David Bridge, Gene Bridge and Carlton Bridge Jr., all of New Jersey; one sister, Elsie Supplee of New Jersey; two brothers, Alfred Bridge and Eugene Bridge, both of New Jersey; and six grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Bridge.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at DeVoe Funeral Services Inc., Washington, N.J. Burial will be in Spruce Run Cemetery, Lebanon Township, N.J.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Local arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.
