Farmers and other agricultural producers have until Aug. 1 to nominate eligible candidates from Local Administrative Area 3 to serve on the local FSA county committee.
Area 3 is the part of Washington County that is south of Md. 68 and south of Alt. U.S. 40 at Boonsboro.
"I encourage all producers to get involved by nominating eligible candidates to serve on the county committee," said Colleen Cashell, executive director of USDA's Farm Service Agency here.
"Individuals may nominate themselves or others as candidates. Also, organizations representing minorities and women are encouraged to nominate candidates."
FSA county committees help local farmers "by making decisions on commodity price support loans, conservation programs and disaster programs, and by working closely with county executive directors," Cashell said. There are three people on the local committee, she said.
