Facility sees 100,000th patient

The Robinwood Surgery Center of Hagerstown, a division of Washington County Health System, recently passed a milestone. Dr. Bruce Edwards of Robinwood Orthopaedic Specialty Center performed surgery on Timothy Calhoun of Hagerstown, who was the center's 100,000th patient.

The center uses six operating rooms, an endoscopy suite, and a procedure room to provide more than 40 different outpatient surgical procedures, including cataract removals, tonsillectomies, knee arthroscopies, podiatry cases, colonoscopies, hernia repairs and sinus surgeries. About 90 surgeons use the center to perform outpatient procedures. The center typically services 20 to 50 patients a day.

The center opened in 1993.
