CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Rev. David A. Forkey, 74, of Charles Town, died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at Shenandoah Health Village Center in Charles Town.

Born Feb. 7, 1933, in New Castle, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Harriet Steese Forkey.

He was a minister of Assembly of God Churches for 51 years in Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.

He was a graduate of Valley Forge (Pa.) Christian College.

He was a member of AARP and a former member of Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth DeSantis Forkey; three daughters, Kathryn A. Dean of Haw River, N.C., Kimberly D. Burke of Ranson, W.Va., and Kristie L. Wilkin of Woodstock, Va.; one son, the Rev. Keith D.A. Forkey of Wheeling, W.Va.; two sisters, Sarah Dalton and Christine Forkey, both of Bel Aire, Pa.; one brother, Richard Forkey of McKeesport, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick Forkey.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Marlowe Assembly of God Church, Falling Waters, W.Va. Assembly of God ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Williamsport.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
