WAYNESBORO, Pa. - James W. Esh, 73, of 10860-A Gehr Road, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Quincy (Pa.) United Methodist Home.

Born Nov. 18, 1933, in Belleville, Pa., he was the son of the late Marion S. and Lydia Zook Esh.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys L. Rice Esh, in 2006. They were married June 5, 1954.

He was a 1968 graduate of Lancaster Bible College.

From 1968 to 1976, he was a pastor at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro. From 1976 to 1984, he was a pastor at Mountainview Brethren in Christ Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. Prior to retiring in 1990, he was a pastor at Morning Hour Chapel Brethren in Christ Church in East Berlin, Pa.

He was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, where he taught the Berean Sunday School Class and was a member of Senior Fellowship.

He was a member of National AARP.

He is survived by two daughters, Ellen L. Ensminger and Darlyss A. Kipe, both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Florence Sharp of Allensville, Pa. and Rosella Wyland of Belleville; two brothers, John Esh of Erie, Pa. and Harry Esh of Lindsborg, Kan.; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Esh; six brothers, Harold Esh, Clayton Esh, Ernest Esh, Sylvester Esh, Joseph Esh and Roy Esh; and one grandson.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro. Pastor Wilbur F. Besecker will officiate. Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery near Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
