A Hagerstown man faces charges after a woman woke up to find him sleeping on her sofa, according to Washington County District Court documents.

Kevin Lloyd Dickens, 38, of 103 Tulip Court in Hagerstown, was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault, false imprisonment, fourth-degree burglary and other crimes.

The woman told the man to leave her home, documents show. When she returned later that day, the man was still sleeping there. She again told him to leave, and the man took her phone and threw it so she couldn't call police, according to charging documents.

The man became upset, said "this was it for you," and threw the woman down on the sofa and covered her mouth in an attempt to stop her breathing, according to documents. The woman managed to escape his grasp, but he threw her down again, said "this is really the end," and held a piece of clothing over the woman's face, documents show.

The woman managed to escape and run out the door. She found a neighbor and called for help.

Faint markings could be seen on the woman's face and neck area, and she had a cut on her lower lip, according to documents.

Dickens was being held at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of $125,000 bond, a deputy said.
