Reunion

July 15, 2007

The Boonsboro High School Class of 1948 celebrated its 59th anniversary reunion June 6 at the American Legion Home in Boonsboro.

Twenty class members, along with spouses, friends and former teacher Jean Keyser, enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner, great fellowship and the harmonizing voices of Evelyn and Charles Summers. The husband and wife duet performed a program of familiar religious and patriotic songs.

Lucille Murray, reunion chairperson, gave an update on the class members who could not attend.

A memorial service was conducted for the 24 deceased members. The names were read, a bell was rung and a candle was lit for each deceased member. The ceremony concluded with prayer.

Class member Gerald Holmes gave an update on the Boonsboro High School Class of 1948 Memorial Award, established in 1990 in memory of the deceased class members. Since the inception of the award, a senior from Boonsboro High School has been selected by the High School Awards Committee. The selected student receives a cash award. In 2007, the cash award was $205 and was presented to Amanda Rossen.
