July 14, 2007

PITTSBURGH - PNC Bank has named Mike Baylor as president of Fidelity Bank in Hagerstown, according to a press release from the bank's corporate headquarters.

Baylor, 45, has been president of Sovereign Bank's Maryland market since 2002.

Baylor is a director of the Maryland Bankers Association and the United Way of Washington County. He also is a member of the Greater Hagerstown Committee, the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Frederick County (Md.) Chamber of Commerce.

Baylor earned an MBA from Frostburg (Md.) State University and a bachelor of science degree in commercial banking and corporate finance from West Virginia University. He also graduated with honors from the Stonier School of Banking.

Fidelity Bank is a division of Farmers & Merchants Bank, an affiliate of the former Mercantile Bankshares Corp., which PNC acquired in March.

All Mercantile Banks are converting to PNC; the release said the conversions should be completed by Sept. 14. At that time, Baylor is scheduled to become regional president for PNC's activities in Washington and Allegany counties.

Altogether, Baylor has more than two decades of banking experience. Between 1992 and 2001, he was a regional executive in several Western Maryland markets for Keystone Financial Bank in Hagerstown and, after Keystone was acquired by M&T, a vice president for middle market banking.

Baylor also served as executive vice president and chief lending officer for Belmont National Bank in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
