July 12, 2007|By JENNIFER FITCH

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Twenty-eight percent of surveys mailed by the Borough of Waynesboro and Washington Township, Pa., have been returned, a consultant reported.

Nearly 1,000 residents of the two municipalities were randomly chosen as part of a joint comprehensive planning process guided by Spotts, Stevens and McCoy of Reading, Pa.

On July 10, the engineering firm reported that 193 surveys from township residents were received, creating a return rate of 36 percent. Seventy borough surveys were returned for a 17 percent return rate.

The surveys ask questions about shopping preferences, use of the downtown, perceived police needs and possible expansion of parks.
