WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The wheelchair-bound man hit while crossing Main Street on Tuesday afternoon was listed in serious condition at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Franklin Bowers, 71, of 25 N. Potomac St., was in a crosswalk at 4:20 p.m. when he was hit in front of 44 W. Main St. by a 2001 Saturn sedan, Waynesboro police said.

The 17-year-old girl driving the vehicle has been cited for not giving the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, Police Chief Ray Shultz said.

"I don't recall of any (citations) being issued recently for any pedestrian accident or failure to yield for a crosswalk," Shultz said.
