Fulton Co. Medical Center exceeds fundraising goal

July 10, 2007

McCONNELLSBURG, PA. - The Fulton County Medical Center's fundraising campaign for its new $37 million hospital on Peach Orchard Road not only met its final goal, but exceeded it, officials announced Monday.

"We are so thankful for all of the community support. Thanks to a matching grant by an anonymous donor and everyone who donated for us to receive the match, the challenge was met," said Timothy McGarvey, chairman of the Community Relations and Development Committee.

"Exceeding the $1.3 million goal set last summer, the surgical suite in the new facility will be fully outfitted and operational when the new facility opens. Construction on the project remains on time and on budget with a planned move in date of late November, early December," said Jason Hawkins, president & chief executive officer of the medical center.

Total gifts from the community were more than $7 million over the course of the medical center's planning and construction, according to a news release.

The medical center received $5 million in state and federal grants, and it issued a $26 million tax-exempt bond, the release stated.

Funds received after July 1 are being used for new medical equipment, upgrades and future programs. Celebrations and grand opening tours are being planned, officials said.
