Employee of the month named at Health Department

Steve Christman has been selected as the Washington County Health Department's Employee of the Month for June.

Christman has been employed at the Health Department since May 2001, when he began as an outreach worker with the Health Services Division. He worked with that program for about 5 months before transferring to the Administration Division as a maintenance worker. He is currently chief of the maintenance and operations section of the Health Department, where he supervises all maintenance staff and activities, including work performed by outside contractors.

Employees of the month at Brook Lane

Brook Lane acknowledges two service areas with an employee of the month award. These are clinical staff and support staff. The following are the April recipients.

Clinical staff - Neena Russell, teacher at Laurel Hall School

Support staff - Linda Fitz, receptionist/medical transcriptionist with Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services.

Shook Home names nursing assistant of the year

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Shook Home honored its nursing assistants with a reception to choose The Nursing Assistant of The Year on June 15. Laurie Muck, an employee of the continuing care retirement facility, was named Nursing Assistant of The Year. She has been employed for more than three years in the skilled-care section of the retirement community.


Muck was chosen based on comments made by her co-workers.

Other nominees were Dottie Rhone, Juanita Bartow, Patti Cool, Megan Dupont, Kelly Elliott, Janet Hoover, Wanda Mann, Melissa Mose, Melissa Taylor and Sue Rebert.

Benedick named program manager

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Jan Benedick of Fort Loudon has been appointed program manager of the skilled therapy rehabilitation program at The Shook Home.

Benedick is a physical therapist with more than 15 years of experience in long-term care and rehab settings. She has a master's degree in physical therapy from the Medical College of Virginia.

Service awards presented in Frederick County

FREDERICK, Md. -Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, Health Officer, recently presented service anniversary awards recently to employees of the Frederick County Health Department. Tammy Hollenbach was honored for 10 years of service; Beth Mowrey was honored for 15 years of service.
