I-70 crash kills Va. woman

July 07, 2007

A Williamsburg, Va., woman died Friday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 at the 16 mile-marker, according to a Maryland State Police press release.

Anissa R. Hoilett, 27, was ejected from the 2001 Ford Explorer in which she was a passenger after the SUV overturned, then landed on its wheels, police said.

Hoilett was pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital, police said.

A 2-year-old passenger was flown to the hospital by a Maryland State Police helicopter. A 12-year-old passenger and the driver, Matthew S. Richardson, 27, also of Williamsburg, were taken to the hospital, police said.

Troopers said a preliminary investigation showed that tire failure might have caused the accident.
