Jefferson County Parks & Rec offers classes for puppies

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, W.Va. -The Jefferson County Parks & Recreation Commission will offer two puppy clinics held by Cari Messick.

The puppy refresher course is for puppies 5 months and older who need to be trained or need a refresher course. Participants will learn the foundations for: coming when called, sitting, down commands, off commands, staying, being handled by people, polite people greeting, and loose leash walking.

Training for puppies is for puppies ages 10 to 20 weeks old who need to learn training foundations. Participants will learn the foundations for: Name recognition, coming when called, sitting, down commands, off commands, staying, being handled by people, and socialization to people, places and other dogs.

The fee for each class is $110 for each dog for a six-week session. The puppy refresher course is 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday, July 25 through Aug. 29. Training for puppies is 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday, July 25 through Aug. 29.
