Shorebirds stop Suns

July 05, 2007

Delmarva scored three runs on five hits to take a 3-0 lead in the third inning and the Shorebirds defeated the Hagerstown Suns 4-2 on Wednesday.

Todd Davison's RBI double and RBI singles by Daniel Figueroa and Billy Rowell gave the Shorebirds a lead they never lost in sending the Suns (3-10) to their second straight loss.

Hagerstown scored its only two runs in the sixth. Leonard Davis doubled and Francisco Guzman singled before Davis scored on Robert Jacobsen's fielder's choice grounder. Jonathan Castro doubled in Jacobsen.

Lakewood's Charlie Yarbrough hit a three-run homer in the first inning and the BlueClaws defeated the Suns 4-3 Tuesday night.

The Suns cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the first on a ground rule double by Francisco Plasencia, singles by Jhonatan Solano and Marvin Lowrance, a wild pitch and a balk.
