There's a brand new name on the junior golf circuit this summer and it might be a name that becomes more familiar.

In her second Tri-State Junior tournament, 17-year-old Haeun Lee took home first place in the 16-18 age division Monday at Beaver Creek Country Club, shooting a 4-over-par 76.

Her family recently moved to Hagerstown from Korea, and she will be a sophomore in the fall at Smithsburg High School.

"This is the first time I've won anything (outright)," said Lee, who started playing golf four years ago and lists fellow Korean and LPGA star Se Ri Pak as her favorite golfer.

She recently tied for first twice - in a Junior Masters Tour event at Black Rock, and at the WACO Juniors at Beaver Creek.

"Ever since I play golf, you play in lots of tournaments and we really, really practice a lot," said Lee, who said she is still learning English. "My chipping is pretty good part, but my putting is not and today I missed short putts."

However, she was good enough to edge out Scott Levy, of Chambersburg, Pa., by two strokes.

In the 14-15 age group, Elizabeth Breed, of Waynesboro, Pa., shot a 7-over 79 for first place.

Aaron Staley shot a 79 to take first in the 12-13 age group.

The next Tri-State Junior event is July 9 at Black Rock.
