Timothy R. Troxell

Timothy R. Troxell, CEcD, executive director of the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission, was elected president of the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) for the 2007-08 program year.

He was among officers elected at the organization's annual conference at Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort in Allegany County, Md.

Troxell was MEDA's vice president for the past year. Prior to that, he was chairman of the organization's Professional Development Committee, which is in charge of developing course offerings for MEDA's members.

He joined the local EDC as assistant director in 1998 and has been executive director since 2002.

Praestar Technology Corp.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jason Piatt, president of Praestar Technology Corp., was keynote speaker at the Power Transmission and Motion Control Representative Association (PTRA) annual meeting in Captiva, Fla.

Piatt spoke on the subject "Selling to Lean and Six Sigma Customers" to more than 180 sales and marketing executives from manufacturers and representative agencies in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

He completed his Six Sigma black belt training at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Sales professional Vanessa Rackers has joined the Waynesboro office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA.

Rackers, who is licensed in Maryland and Pennsylvania, is a full-time Realtor and an ASP home stager. She provides her home staging services at no cost to her clients who are buying or selling a home.

Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell

John P. Itell, CPA/CAV, managing partner of Albright Crumbacker Moul & Itell, participated in the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts' 14th annual consultants conference in Washington, D.C., from June 6 through 9.

This year's event was entitled, "Making Monumental Strides in Valuation and Financial Forensics."

Itell prepares business valuations for estate and gift tax returns, business succession transactions and divorce.

Hopewell Manor II Apartments

Virginia "Ginny" Weir, site manager, and Richard Loudin, maintenance manager, were recognized by U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R-6th, and Marlene Elliott, USDA Rural Development state director, for their work at Hopewell Manor II Apartments on Pepperbush Circle in Hagerstown.

Weir and Loudin are employed by Case Edwards Management Co. based in Annapolis to manage a federally financed property.

Each year, Rural Development recognizes a site manager. Nominations for site managers and maintenance managers are submitted by the tenants of the property and are rated on such factors as level of tenant satisfaction with the manager, curb appeal of the manager's property and the manager consistently doing more than the job requires.

Weir became site manager in 1990.

Loudin maintains everything on the property from landscaping to snow removal.

Drees Homes

FREDERICK, Md. - Barry Weller, Drees Homes Maryland Division sales manager, received the first Jack M. Miller Sales Manager of the Year Award at the sales management conference in Dallas in May.

To be considered for the award, individuals had to be nominated in writing by their division presidents, with a detailed explanation of why the nominees deserved the award. The nominations were then voted on by the three regional presidents as well as by David Drees and National sales director Aaron Tackett.

Weller has been selling homes for 17 years. He twice was named Salesperson of the Year for Frederick County, Md., and was named Salesperson of the Year for Maryland.

MVB Bank

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert B. Seem Jr. has joined MVB Bank as vice president of commercial lending.

Seem will be responsible for commercial lending, business development and community relations for the greater Berkeley and Jefferson counties area.

A native of Martinsburg, Seem will work from the bank's new Eastern Panhandle headquarters on Foxcroft Avenue.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

He served as a business services officer at his former bank, where he was responsible for a commercial loan portfolio in excess of $50 million. From 2005 to 2006, he served as a small business banker, earning the Sterling Performer award.

Long & Foster

The Hagerstown office of Long & Foster recognized the following for May.

·Dean Martin was Top Lister and Sales Individual.

·Rick Baker was Top Units Individual.

·Mary Llewellyn was Top Units and Lister Group.

·Mike Hill was Top Sales Group.

RE/MAX Enterprises

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Pauline Salvador, a real estate sales associate with RE/MAX Enterprises LLC in Hedgesville, has completed her Graduate Realtor Institute designation.

Salvador attended four three-day sessions within the last year to complete the required modules.

·Seth Vancour, of Hagers-town, has joined the Hedgesville office of RE/MAX Enterprises as a sales associate.

He spent the last five years in new home sales, working for Dan Ryan Builders and Richmond American Homes.
