CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The 2007 Franklin County Farm and Home Safety Day Camp is to be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Chambersburg Rod & Gun Club.
Students can be ages 7 to 18.
Admission costs $4 a person and includes lunch, accident insurance and safety materials if the July 27 registration deadline is met, according to a press release from Penn State Cooperative Extension.
It describes the program as "a fun and effective way to teach youth about safety through hands-on demonstrations."
Lessons will cover such topics as: disability awareness, storm/lightning safety, basic first aid, ATV rollover safety, animal safety, firearm and knife safety, hidden hazards, tobacco prevention, PTO/corn picker demo safety, electric safety, handwashing/keeping healthy, and smoke house/ fire truck.
To reach the Franklin County Fairgrounds (Chambersburg Rod & Gun Club): From U.S. 30 west of Chambersburg, turn onto Pa. 995 at Sunnyway Plaza. Travel about 8.5 miles. The fairgrounds will be on your right.
