Suns swept

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - With runners on first and third and one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, Adrian Cardenas grounded into a forceout at second to drive in the winning run as Lakewood beat the Hagerstown Suns 3-2 on Sunday to sweep the four-game series.

The Suns fell to 0-4 in the second half of the South Atlantic League season and are now a season-worst 13 games under .500 (29-42) overall.

Hagerstown starter Erik Arnesen (3-3) went 7 1/3 innings in a losing effort. It was the longest outing for a Suns pitcher this year.

Leonard Davis drove in both of Hagerstown's runs with a pair of RBI singles, tying the game at 1-1 in the fourth and giving the Suns a 2-1 lead in the sixth.

The BlueClaws took a 1-0 lead in the third on a home run by Carl Henry and tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth on a pair of infield throwing errors by the Suns.
