Bastardo stymies Suns

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Antonio Bastardo pitched eight strong innings to lead Lakewood to a 2-0 victory Friday night over the Hagerstown Suns, who fell to 0-2 in the second half of the South Atlantic League season.

Bastardo allowed only three hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Lakewood took a 1-0 lead in the fifth on Fidel Hernandez's RBI single off Hagerstown starter Yunior Novoa (5-6), who struck out eight in his six innings.

The BlueClaws added an insurance run in the eighth on Douglas Morales RBI single off reliever Chris Lugo.

Joe Napoli doubled in the second for the Suns' only extra-base hit.

The Suns lost 3-2 to Lakewood late Thursday night after two rain relays.
