The Banzhoffs

Keller "Chub" Banzhoff and Clarabelle "Belle" Banzhoff of Smithsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 20, 2007, at Paramount Brethren in Christ Church with dinner and cake. The evening was hosted by their children, Tim, Jim and Joe Banzhoff, and their children's families. They were presented with a greeting from the White House.

The Banzhoffs were married April 20, 1957, by the Rev. Herbert J. Hoover at Ringgold Church. Mrs. Banzhoff is the former Clarabelle Mongan.

Mr. Banzhoff served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Mr. and Mrs. Banzhoff retired after many years working at Hagerstown Bookbinding and Printing. They are active with Paramount Brethren in Christ Church serving as a deacon couple.

The Banzhoffs are lifelong residents of Smithsburg and have three grandchildren; Shannen, Joshua and Jared.

The Bakers

Richard "Dick" and Nelda Baker of State Line, Pa., formerly of Hagerstown, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Jan. 5, 2007. They enjoyed dinner and a celebration with family and friends. Their daughters, Tammy Brown of Hagerstown, Lisa Growden of Greencastle, Pa., and Kendra Swope of Hagerstown, hosted the event.


The Bakers were married Jan. 5, 1957, by Father Patrick Coyne at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown.

Mr. Baker retired from the trucking business in 1990 after 34 years of service.

Mrs. Baker worked full-time as a mother and homemaker.

The Bakers have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
