Myers resigns from Greencastle-Antrim board

June 22, 2007|By ASHLEY HARTMAN

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The Greencastle-Antrim School Board Thursday accepted the resignation of board member Hal Myers, who resigned to take a position in the school district.

Eric Holtzman will be appointed to fill the remainder of the term vacated by Myers.

Myers resigned after 18 years to take the job as director of buildings and grounds for the school district.

"In order for him to be an employee for the district, he can't be on the board," said acting Superintendent C. Gregory Hoover.

As director of buildings and grounds, Myers will be in charge of the school district's buildings, grounds, maintenance and custodians, Hoover said.

"He was very knowledgeable about the buildings and grounds - that was his background - it was a natural fit for us when he decided to apply for the job," Hoover said.

Holtzman is on the ballot for the next school board election and will fill Myers' term until December, Hoover said.

"He's the one who has been attending the meetings the most and he's ... most likely to be elected," Hoover said. "We thought he was the best choice at this time."
