Capito's list of requests

The $92.5 million list of "earmark" requests by U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia includes the following projects in the Eastern Panhandle. The projects are grouped by the federal appropriations bill in which they would be included.

Capito's office released the list Wednesday, one day after U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland released his list. The Herald-Mail requested both lists Tuesday.


· $500,000 for building a new Morgan County Courthouse, after the old one was destroyed in a fire last year

Commerce, Justice, Science

· $600,000 for Jefferson County law enforcement communications

· $100,000 for security and equipment at the new Morgan County Courthouse


· $7 million for STS Technologies to carry out a "counterinsurgency biometrics tactical census" in Morgan County

Labor, Health and Human Services, Education


· $100,000 for automotive technology and computer technology programs at James Rumsey Technical Institute in Berkeley County

· $344,000 for technology improvements in electronic medical records at City Hospital in Berkeley County

· $50,000 for computers and software at Martinsburg-Berkeley County Public Library

Transportation, Housing and Urban Development

· $1 million for building a new Morgan County Courthouse

· $4 million for extending Raleigh Street in Martinsburg
