Pa. man charged in fatal accident

CARLISLE, Pa. - A Chambersburg, Pa., man was charged Wednesday after a fatal two-vehicle accident on Interstate 81 in the area of Penn Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Melvin Garcia-Rivera, 30, of Chambersburg, Pa., was driving a Ford Club Wagon north on Interstate 81 in the right lane when he merged into the left lane and into the path of a Honda Odyssey, troopers said in a news release. The Club Wagon struck the Odyssey in the front right corner, troopers said.

The Club Wagon then swerved into the right lane and rolled over several times, troopers said. Two of its passengers were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Cumberland County Coroner's Office, troopers said.

The names of the deceased are being withheld until family is notified.

Garcia-Rivera was charged with accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed, recklessly endangering another person, and driver required to be licensed, troopers said.
