2 charged in thefts waive their hearings

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Two men charged with a series of burglaries and thefts in March and April waived their preliminary hearings Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court.

Mandatory arraignments for Derek C. Patterson, 18, of 2964 Roosevelt Drive, and Richard Joseph McInnis, 18, of 7564 Fort McCord Road, are scheduled for Aug. 1. Each is charged with three counts of burglary and four counts each of criminal conspiracy and theft, according to court records.

Pennsylvania State Police said Patterson and McInnis found a key hidden outside to get into a house on Sollenberger Road in Hamilton Township between March 16 and 19. They stole rifles, a starter pistol, golf balls, VHS tapes and loose change with a total value of about $2,000.

Between March 16 and 21, the pair broke into a house on Northern Avenue in Greene Township, stealing approximately $2,200 in cash, police said. A house on Salem Road in Greene Township was burglarized between April 9 and 13 with a flat screen television and loose change with a combined value of $1,320 being taken.

Patterson and McInnis also are charged with stealing a Kawasaki all-terrain vehicle from a Siloam Road home in Greene Township on April 11, police said.
