3 Buchanan FFA teams tops in Pa.

M. Plessinger, Horst, Rice score high

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Several members of the FFA chapter at James Buchanan High School will be going to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in October.

The students earned this by scoring high in competition June 12 at the FFA Summer Convention at Penn State University.

Buchanan's Farm Business Management team of Logan Horst, Zachary Meyers, Garrison Plessinger, Malcolm Plessinger and Garrett Rice placed first as a team.

Individually, Malcolm placed first, Logan second, and Garrett fourth.

In the Ag Issues contest, the team of Jacob Brake, Coty Covert, Ashley Heckman, Sarah Holland and Stephanie Jones placed first for their presentation on the ACRE legislation.

In the Ag Science fair contest, Kevin Breakall and Joel Summers placed first for their study of drinking water.

The Dairy Judging team of Tyler Funk, Heather Hartung, Chevy Martin and Kelsey Meyers placed second and will attend the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Mass., in September.


The Agriculture Sales team of Mandy Clark, Candice Dayley, Tonya Grissinger and Michelled Jones placed fourth.

Also, the Poultry Judging team of Alex Fahnestock, Derek Forsyth, Aaron Musser and Russell Phenicie placed fourth as a team.
