Cerrone gets award from agency

June 14, 2007

Kevin Cerrone, director of the County Commuter, recently received the 2006 Outstanding Community Partnership Award from the Washington County Department of Social Services, according to a department press release.

The award is given each spring to an individual or agency that has demonstrated a dedicated commitment to partnering with the Department of Social Services in improving and providing excellent services to its customers, according to the release.

"Mr. Cerrone has been a significant partner with the WCDSS in providing transportation resources to the community through the development of the Job Opportunity Bus Shuttle," according to the release. "Originally launched in 2000, the bus shuttle is designed to transport low-income families with children from their homes to day care to work and back home at the end of their workday. A second bus shuttle was added in 2002.

"Through Mr. Cerrone's research of transportation needs, the type of transportation needed and the administration of the bus shuttle, many Washington County low-income families are able to get their children to day care and to work on time every day," according to the release.
