Six taken to hospital after rollover crash on U.S. 40

MYERSVILLE, Md. - Six people were taken to area hospitals after a 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser rolled over several times, causing a 4-year-old passenger to be thrown from the vehicle, according to a press release from Maryland State Police in Frederick.

Lorenzo Garcia of Lanham, Md., was attempting to avoid striking a vehicle stopped on U.S. 40 when he lost control of the Toyota he was driving on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. near Deerwoods Place, according to the release.

A 4-year-old passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and was flown to Johns Hopkins Medicine, while five other passengers were taken to Washington County Hospital. None of the passengers seemed to have life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

Garcia did not require medical treatment, according to the release.

The vehicle Garcia was trying to avoid was turning left onto Deerwoods Place, according to the release.
