Mercersburg Borough manager steps down

June 13, 2007|by JENNIFER FITCH

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - The Mercersburg Borough Council on Monday accepted the resignation of Borough Manager Artie Speicher effective July 10, Mayor James Zeger said.

"He's done a great job for us. ... We're sorry that he's leaving," Zeger said.

Speicher, who was with the borough about four years, made the office more organized, friendly and professional, Zeger said.

"He brought a lot of order," Zeger said. "We were getting a lot done with ordinances review and rewriting."

The council already was in the process of interviewing for an assistant manager, and now will advertise for a borough manager, Zeger said.

Speicher accepted a better-paying job in the Poconos with a ski business, Zeger said.

Speicher was unavailable for comment.
