City staff to study dog park

June 13, 2007

The Hagerstown City Council gave the city staff permission during a Tuesday work session to research the creation of a dog park.

Cindy Blackstock, city community development coordinator, wrote in a memorandum last week that several residents have asked for a park to exercise their dogs, and let the animals socialize with other pets in a safe environment.

The location has not been decided, but would encompass about a 0.5-acre area, she wrote. The park also would include a fence, shade, access to water and wheelchair accessibility, among other things.
