June 12, 2007

The Boonsboro High School FFA chapter held its annual banquet May 25, with a program looking back at the past year, giving awards and installing new officers.

Several members received Greenhand Degrees. This is the first degree members can earn by being involved in career development events and chapter activities.

Recipients include Brian Baker, Bo Butts, Sarah Dodson, Corey Downing, Katie Fisher, Whitney Furr, Alison Griffith, Jessica Hanes, Donnie Koontz, Andrew Lowery, Katie Miller, Allie Mullenix and Annie Myers.

Each year, one student who received the Greenhand degree is chosen to receive the Star Greenhand Degree for outstanding achievement in all he or she has done throughout the year.

This year's recipient is Sarah Dodson.

Twelve members received Chapter Degrees. To earn this degree, members must have received their Greenhand Degree, taken an agricultural class and have been involved in chapter activities throughout the year. This degree requires members to invest time and money in an agricultural project.

The 2007 recipients include Erin Canfield, Lucas Azoy, Keith Bowers, Brittany Bowman, Josh Danner, Tyler Hosler, Kristen Jennings, Eric Kline, Donovan Olden, Kris Palmer and April Thompson.

Like the Greenhand Degree, one recipient was chosen to receive the Star Chapter Degree.

Kris Palmer received this because he "has excelled in all areas in FFA," according to Erin Canfield, the chapter's new president.

Besides Canfield, the chapter's new officers include Vice President, April Thompson; Jr. Adviser, Lucas Azoy; Secretary, Kris Palmer; Reporter, Whitney Furr; Treasurer, Brittany Bowman; Sentinel, Jesse Planck; and Chaplain, Eric Kline.
