GLEN ELLYN, Ill. - Ashley Grier might have had to pinch herself several times while driving to Decatur, Ill., site of the DuramedFUTURES tournament on Monday.

That's because the Hagerstown native was making the trip after just qualifying for the Women's U.S. Open earlier in the day.

Grier put a 72-75-147 on the scoreboard to tie for 12th place among the 94 players in the 36 holes of competition at the Village Links. She was awarded with one of the 21 spots available for the tournament.

The U.S. Open will be played June 28-July 1 at the ine Needles Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

"This is an all-time high," said Grier by telephone while driving to Decatur Monday evening.

"I played the morning round in 2-under until I three-putted 17 and 18, and then I was even-par through 16 and was 3-over on the last two holes," said Grier. "I didn't look at the scoreboard, but I had a thought that I was going to the U.S. Open in the back of my mind."
