BOONSBORO - A pregnant Funkstown woman injured in a car accident Saturday in Boonsboro has died, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.

Kelsy Lynn Thomas, 20, of 102 W. Green St., was critically injured Saturday when the 1995 Honda in which she was riding struck an unoccupied parked car at a high rate of speed on Main Street near Mousetown Road and came to rest in the westbound lane at 1:57 a.m., according a Washington County Sheriff's Department press release.

Javaughn Allen Young, 20, also of 102 W. Green St., the vehicle's driver, was taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he was listed in critical condition this morning, deputies said.

Susan Thomas, who is Kelsy's mother, said her daughter was four months pregnant.

Her daughter had been kept alive so medical staff could harvest her organs for donation, Thomas said. The baby did not survive the accident, Thomas said.
