Suns score 3 in 10th to turn back Captains

June 11, 2007

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Justin Maxwell's RBI double in the 10th inning gave Hagerstown the lead and the Suns added two more runs to defeat the Lake County Captains 5-2 on Sunday to earn a split of the four-game series.

Francisco Guzman and Michael Martinez hit singles to start the 10th and set up Maxwell's double. Marcos Cabral's sacrifice fly scored Martinez, and Michael Daniel's suicide squeeze turned into a bunt single and scored Maxwell to make it 5-2.

The Suns (26-36) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Jhonatan Solano singled and eventually scored on Maxwell's groundout.

The Captains (29-33) answered in the bottom half on Matt Whitney's leadoff home run, his 14th.

Hagerstown made it 2-1 in the third on Daniel's seventh homer of the year, and held the lead until the ninth, when Roman Pena tripled and scored on Carlos Rivero's sac fly.

The Suns pounded out 15 hits, while pitchers Don Levinski, Aaron Jackson and Greg Bunn (1-0) held Lake County to three hits. But Hagerstown left 15 runners on base.

Maxwell and Guzman each finished with three hits for the Suns, who begin a seven-game homestand tonight with a game against Lakewood at 7:05 p.m.
