Separate Leadership programs hold graduations

Student Leadership Washington County

Student Leadership Washington County, a program of the Washington County Leadership Development Program Inc,. graduated its first class under the new name on May 11.

The four-year-old program was founded to demonstrate the learning community's commitment to creating a program that develops leadership skills in students. The format of the Student Leadership Program follows the model of Leadership Washington County, meeting once a month from September to May.

Two college credits in leadership development are awarded to students upon completion of the program and a community project is part of the curriculum. This year, the organization that benefited from the efforts of the 24 member class was Habitat for Humanity.


Students are nominated by their high school principals to participate in the program and Hagerstown Community College selects 10 campus leaders to participate.

Leadership Franklin County

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Leadership Franklin County Committee announced the graduation of the 2006-07 program class on Friday, May 18, at at the Orchards Restaurant

Leadership Franklin County was instituted in 1986-1987 for the purpose of developing community leaders. The Each Leadership Franklin County Program begins in September with an orientation session and continues through May with sessions on problem solving, community perspectives, leadership and ethics, public relations and fund-raising, power, area history, cultural diversity, board responsibilities, educational and political issues and others.
