Fun fitness for children

T'ai Chi

T'ai chi for beginning and intermediate students. The beginner's course teaches the art of t'ai chi as a holistic exercise that promotes health, improves balance and enhances mind-body awareness. Participants will receive step-by-step instruction in primer form of less than 20 movements selected from the Yang and Wu styles of t'ai chi. The intermediate class features authentic Northern Wu style t'ai chi ch'uan. The 37-posture Wu style t'ai chi form will be taught in step-by-step instruction. Art classes for mentally and physically challenged

Three sessions of three weeks each will be held for mentally and physically challenged individuals. Heidi Coble, a veteran special education instructor, will guide students through experiences in painting, collage and clay. All materials will be provided. Ages 5 through 12, 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, June 16 through June 30; ages 13 through 21, 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays, July 14 through July 28; for ages 22 and older, 10 a.m. to noon, Saturdays, Aug. 18 through Sept. 1.
