Man dies when motorcycle strikes fuel truck

June 08, 2007

A 22-year-old Williamsport man died Friday night when the motorcycle he was riding on Alternate U.S. 40 near Cool Hollow Road crashed head-on with a truck hauling an empty fuel tanker, Maryland State Police said.

The man's name wasn't released pending notification of family members, police said.

The motorcycle crossed the center line of the road on a curve and struck a westbound AC&T truck just before 6:30 p.m., police said.

Police said the fuel truck had just made a delivery prior to the accident, which closed the road for more than three hours.

The truck driver, a 54-year-old Hampstead, Md., man, did not need medical treatment and did not appear to be at fault, police said.
