Suns fall to Captains

EASTLAKE, Ohio - Matthew McBride and Roman Pena each homered, doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Lake County Captains to a 10-7 victory over the Hagerstown Suns on Thursday night.

The Captains (28-31) broke a 6-6 tie with four runs in the bottom of the fourth. McBride's two-run double off Suns starter Erik Arnesen (3-2) made it 8-6, before Pena capped the rally with a two-run shot off reliever Zachary Baldwin.

The Suns (24-35) scored four runs in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead, getting an RBI double from Francisco Guzman, a two-run double by Michael Martinez and an RBI single from Marcos Cabral.

After Lake County answered with a run in the bottom of the second and four more in the third to take a 6-4 lead, the Suns tied the game in the fourth on Justin Maxwell's 14th home run of the season - a two-run shot to left.

Hagerstown scored the game's final run in the eighth on a solo home run by Leonard Davis.

Lake County starter Steven Wright (4-6) went five innings for the win, despite giving up six earned runs on 11 hits.

The Suns outhit the Captains, 13-11. Martinez and Brett McMillan each had three hits for Hagerstown.
