American Legion schedules annual Day for God and Country

The Western Maryland District of the American Legion Auxiliary will host its annual Day for God and Country on June 10, at 2 p.m.

The event will be at Camp West-Mar on Brown Road just off Md. 77 between Smithsburg and Thurmont.

Chaplain Lt. Col. Warren Kirby, who is stationed at Fort Detrick, will be guest speaker.

The Naval ROTC Color Guard from Frederick County's Linganore High School will lay memorial wreaths and perform a flag-folding ceremony. Gold Star Mothers and members will be honored.

Serving as honor guard for the day will be the Glen W. Eyler Squadron 282 of Woodsboro, Md. Soloist Dwight Reynolds, past commander of Post 282, will sing the national anthem. Jasy Fist of Sykesville (Md.) Memorial Post 223 will provide music.

A high school student from Sharpsburg will sing selected songs.

The Western Maryland District of the American Legion Auxiliary is comprised of Washington, Carroll and Frederick counties.
