Outdoor movie series starts Friday

June 07, 2007|by JULIE E. GREENE

Harry Potter, a talking spider and a dancing penguin are among the stars of Washington County Free Library's Friday Night Outdoor Movie Series.

The series of family-friendly movies begins at dusk Friday with "Happy Feet," best animated feature film winner at this year's Oscars.

The movies are shown on the library's outer wall in the library's South Potomac Street parking lot. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

The movie series promotes the library and its services, said Pat Wishard, the library's public relations/program coordinator. All of the movies being shown are available on DVD to library cardholders, she said.

Except for "Charlotte's Web" - rated G - and "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" - rated PG-13 - the movies are rated PG.

"It's a nice family activity," Wishard said. Lots of families came out last year, with some movies attracting about 100 people, she said.
