Hagerstown bridge club posts results

Nineteen pairs competed Friday night, June 1, in the World Wide Bridge Contest during a meeting of the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club in Hagerstown. This event is sponsored by the World Bridge Federation, and bridge players from throughout the world compete. The following are the results of the competition in Hagerstown. Results have been forwarded to England to be compared with results from players worldwide who will have played the same bridge hands.

In the overalls: Jack Sherwood and David Abuhove finished first in the A stratum with a 65.83-percent game. Ann Lebherz and Bob Munger were second in A and first in B with 62.43 percent, and Howard Gilbert and Elaine Rowe were third in A with 56.99 percent. Scott and Debbie Kiser placed fourth in A, second in B and first in C with 56.86 percent, and Dick and Lois Taylor came in fifth in A with 55.35 percent. Jean Toth and Rick Elbo placed sixth in A with 55.2 percent. Bill and Madeline Davis were third in B with 54.76 percent, and David Bort and Mike Migdal came in fourth in B and second in C with 52.58 percent. Barbara Beard and Nancy Burger placed third in C with 51.9 percent.

In section, Leslie Lege and Willa Garner placed first North/South in C with 48.25 percent.

The Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 7:30 p.m. Fridays at the American Legion on Northern Avenue. All bridge players are welcome. For more information, call 301-797-4627.
