Suns' bats bash 'Claws

Hagerstown made short work of Lakewood on Monday at Municipal Stadium, as the Suns' first four hitters in the lineup each had at least three hits as Hagerstown finished with 18 overall in a 16-3 whipping of the BlueClaws in the first game of a three-game series.

Justin Maxwell, Alex Nunez and Chris Marrero each went 3-for-5 and Michael Daniel went 4-for-5 for the Suns. Maxwell homered and drove in two runs, Daniel doubled twice and drove in three, Marrero doubled and drove in three and Nunez added two RBI.

Brett McMillan had two hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in three for Hagerstown.

The Suns scored twice in the first inning, twice in the second, three times in the fourth, once in the sixth, twice in the seventh and six times in the eighth to make it a laugher.

Hagerstown batted .462 in the game (18-for-39), slugged .692 and compiled a .718 on-base percentage thanks to 10 walks.

Yunior Novoa (4-5) worked five innings for the victory, allowing five hits and one run while striking out three.
