Wicket Affair to benefit gym

June 04, 2007

The lawns at Brook Lane, off Smithsburg-Leitersburg Road, are being spruced up for the upcoming Wicket Affair and Scoops and Wickets fundraisers to benefit the Brook Lane gym.

The Wicket Affair will be Friday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. under a large tent on the Brook Lane campus. An evening reception will feature food and a preview of the auction items for Scoops & Wickets. Music will be provided by The Candice Mowbray Quartet. Croquet attire or business casual dress is appropriate.

The second annual Scoops & Wickets Ice Cream and Croquet Social will be Saturday, June 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brook Lane. An old-fashioned family fun day, the event will feature croquet, bocce ball, children's games, a silent auction, face painting, a live auction and concessions. A Scooby-Doo moon bounce will be available, along with homemade ice cream. The event will feature a children's croquet court, several regulation-size courts and a special challenge course that will require players to follow a track around trees, over rocks and hopefully not in the brook. Concessions will be available.

The silent auction will feature four tables of items; each table will close at different times, with the live auction starting at 12:15 p.m. Auction items will include a weekend getaway to Deep Creek Lake, an original serigraph by the late John Kurz, a geclee' print by Ben Jones, several Brook Lane slates, four hours of interior design by Interiors of Maryland, golf passes, handmade jewelry and a basket of Arbonne baby products.
