June 04, 2007

The Rachuba Group, a family-owned-and-operated real estate development company, celebrated the grand opening of the Hager's Crossing Community Center.

A reception and ribbon cutting took place May 24 at the Community Center at the corner of Bartow Drive and Hager's Crossing Drive in the new Hager's Crossing development, just off Interstate 81 and U.S. 40 behind The Centre at Hagerstown.

Hagerstown Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II and Lawrence R. Rachuba, chief executive officer of the Rachuba Group, were joined by Julianna Albowicz of Sen. Barbara Mikulski's office; Mike Flicek, executive director of the Hagerstown YMCA; Dale Bannon, executive director of the United Way of Washington County; Bruce Zimmerman, Hagerstown city administrator; and Susan Murray, representing the Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

The community center is owned and managed by the residents of Hager's Crossing and includes a swimming pool, walking trails, tennis and basketball courts, as well as soccer and multipurpose ball fields.

Additionally, the Rachuba Group announced a partnership with the YMCA. The developers of Hager's Crossing - Rachuba Home Builders, Lennar and Ryan Homes - are donating $3,000 to the YMCA for the purchase of a bus to transport children, many of whom will live in Hager's Crossing, on field trips. Flicek accepted the gift on behalf of the Hagers-town YMCA.

Developed by the Rachuba Group, Hager's Crossing is a planned residential community development that consists of approximately 800 newly built single-family and town homes by Rachuba Home Builders, Lennar and Ryan Homes, an NVR company.
