June 03, 2007

Clear Spring High School graduate Adam Mills, a starting pitcher at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, was named to the Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American first team last week.

Mills, a senior right-hander, went 13-2 with a 1.06 ERA and 136 strikeouts in 135 2/3 innings for the 49ers. He was named pitcher of the year in the Atlantic 10 Conference and is one of 30 players still in the running for the 2007 Brooks Wallace College Player of the Year Award.

Mills got his 14th win Friday, going seven innings, allowing two runs (none earned) and striking out five to lead Charlotte to a 6-3 win over North Carolina State in the Columbia (S.C.) Regional.
