J. Edward Cochran & Co. Inc.

Tony Valentine has been appointed J. Edward Cochran & Co. Inc.'s personal lines coverage specialist.

Valentine, who is licensed to sell property and casualty insurance, will concentrate on expanding the agency's presence in the home and auto market in the Tri-State area.

A Washington County native, Valentine has more than 20 years of sales experience. He is a 2004 graduate of the Hartford School of Insurance and the Pacesetter Sales School.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Real estate professional Dan Haffner, of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA in Waynesboro, recently completed a program geared toward protecting historic properties.


The public-private educational program is offered through a partnership between global residential real estate leader ERA Franchise Systems Inc. and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

·Two sales professionals, Gretchen Shearer and Roberta Varney, have joined the Waynesboro office.

Shearer received real estate training at the Institute of Real Estate Studies and is attending Jack Gaughen's intensive five-week course for new agents. She is licensed to list and sell all types of real estate in Pennsylvania.

Varney, of Waynesboro, has an associate degree in applied science from Hagerstown Business College and is attending the company's five-week course. She is licensed to list and sell all types of real estate in Pennsylvania.

·Two sales professionals were recognized for their performances in April.

Paul Gunder and Amy Kuhaneck were selected based on the number of new listings, sales and referrals, attendance at real estate meetings and workshops and customer satisfaction.

Kelly Goetz, of Hagers-town, recently was awarded a seven-night Alaskan cruise by AtHome America for achieving sales and mentoring goals.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Iva Poole, of Middletown, attended the Neways National Convention March 9-10 in Salt Lake City.

Poole, a distributor for Neways, a direct seller of nutritional, personal care and household products, participated in lectures and breakout sessions.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Rodney Clark, owner of Clark Photography in Waynesboro, received the Professional Photographers of America Inc. National Award for outstanding servicie to professional photography.

A plaque was presented at the annual convention banquet of the Professional Photographers Association of Pennsylvania, a PPA affiliate. The banquet was held April 24 at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel & Convention Center in Camp Hill, Pa.

The award, first available in 1958, recognizes those who contribute their time and talents to the service of their profession, their affiliate organization and their fellow photographers, according to a prepared release. Award recipients are selected by their peers.

FREDERICK, Md. - James Cote, of Severn, Md., was named STH Inc.'s 2006 Account Representative of the Year by the Frederick-based manufacturer's representative specializing in the sale and service of engineered plumbing products to the commercial, municipal, sprinkler and industrial markets.

First United Bank & Trust

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Thomas A. Cummings has joined First United Bank & Trust as market president for the bank's Berkeley County, W.Va., region.

He received his BSBA and MBA from West Virginia University and is a graduate of West Virginia School of Banking at Marshall University.

Cummings, of Falling Waters, W.Va., has 18 years of experience in the banking industry. He will lead First United's banking efforts in Berkeley County.
