FREDERICK, Md. - Dewberry, a nationally recognized design and consulting firm, has opened a new office in Frederick.

The office is the firm's eighth in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area and the fourth in Maryland.

The new office at 321 Ballenger Center Drive, Suite 101, will support land development projects in the region for both public- and private-sector clients. Services include surveying, planning, land design, civil engineering and landscape architecture.

Michael R. Snyder, PE, has been named manager of the office. He has more than 25 years of experience in providing land design services in Maryland, and has been with Dewberry for 22 years.

Snyder's senior engineering team includes Joanne Cheok, PE, and Marc Mezzanotte, PE.

Dewberry is a professional services firm that specializes in emergency mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery; engineering and architectural design; program management; planning; geographic information services; and environmental services.

Flowline OEM, a vendor in the hydraulic hose and custom fittings market, has opened a facility in the business corridor at 221 McRand Court, Suite 400, to serve the mid-Atlantic region.

Flowline OEM Group supplies vendor-managed inventory for major manufacturers.

Hagerstown's growing economy in relation to nearby opportunities in the marketplace played a part in the owners' decision to invest in the location, according to a prepared release from President Larry Blackburn.

Flowline is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

High Rock Studios

High Rock Studios' Web site for The Smile Design Centre won a Silver Addy from District 2 of the American Advertising Federation.

District 2 is comprised of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

The Web site at was eligible for a regional award after winning in the local competition at the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation Awards.

High Rock, with an office in downtown Hagerstown, was the only firm selected for a district award from the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation.

Giant Food Stores, Martin's FoodMarkets

CARLISLE, Pa. - Customers of Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets donated $193,237 to the stores' annual Support Our Troops in-store campaign.

Under the campaign, customers were invited to donate $1 at the checkout toward their regional USO, an organization dedicated to programs that build morale and keep soldiers connected to their families.

This year, the program ran from April 29 to May 5 at all Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets.

Since the inception of Support Our Troops three years ago, Giant and Martin's customers have donated more than $415,000.
